As apartment residents get ready to head out on their summer vacations – and enjoy the amenities their own cities and apartment communities have to offer – one of the primary things they look forward to is visiting their favorite restaurants and discovering new foods, beverages and desserts. We discovered some of the best shops and restaurants for delicious food this summer, and are revealing which cities are home to the award-winning eateries.
New York, N.Y. : Arguably the best city for foodies in the U.S., it is difficult to pick just one restaurant to feature here. But we did find a very unique shop to help keep you cool this summer: Big Gay Ice Cream, which has locations in the East Village and the West Village. The shop’s soft-serve ice cream is served with eclectic toppings and the cones have fun names like Bea Arthur, Gobbler and Mermaid.
Nashville, Tenn.: While this city is home to many outstanding barbecue restaurants, the top-rated spot by OpenTable customers is Martin’s BBQ Joint. The restaurant, featured on the Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives”, serves up delicious pulled pork, smoked turkey, beef brisket and other mouthwatering Southern delicacies.
San Francisco, Calif.: Some of the best Hawaiian food in the U.S. can actually be found in this great city. The second-highest rated restaurant in San Francisco on TripAdvisor, LihoLiho Yacht Club features Hawaiian fusion dishes such as Poke on Crisp Nori and Housemade Spam over Rice.
New Orleans, La.: Hansen’s Sno-Bliz specializes in the sno-ball, shaved ice that instantly dissolves on the tongue in a variety of unique flavors. Of course, New Orleans residents also get to enjoy the best Creole and Cajun cuisine in the U.S. year-round.
Charleston, S.C.: When it’s hot outside, everyone craves light, fresh seafood. Hank’s Seafood Restaurant, voted the “best seafood restaurant” in Charleston for 13 years in a row, has a an elegant setting along with guest favorites such as Low country Bouillabaisse, Roast Grouper with Lobster Risotto and Oyster Stew.
Dallas, Texas: The Fried Chicken + Jack Sandwich is just one of the many popular, drool-worthy sandwiches at the top-rated East Hampton Sandwich Co. in Dallas. Also check out its Country Ham & Swiss sandwich and the Ranch BLT.
Cape Elizabeth, Maine:The Lobster Shack at Two Lights is a historic lobster eatery on the coast of Maine, featuring sweeping views. But what’s most important is that its lobster rolls have won numerous awards.
San Diego, Calif.: Some of the best burgers in the country were discovered by Guy Fieri of The Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-ins & Dives” at Hodad’s. In fact, the restaurant says its Guido Burger was inspired by Fieri and is a unique pastrami-topped burger, dripping with Swiss cheese, grilled onions and brown mustard.
